Volunteering the Right Way
Volunteering for ADDA can help you find new friends, reach out to a community where you feel right at home, learn new skills in a stress-free environment and even advance your career. Volunteering even improves your mental and physical health! (And who among us doesn’t need some of that!?)
For many adults living with ADHD, life can be a lonely, seemingly-endless struggle. You can battle that loneliness by volunteering with ADDA. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better for everyone, but volunteering also offers an excellent return on investment. It can benefit you and your family as much as it benefits ADDA. Committing your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your network and boost your social skills.
We’re looking for writers, editors, PR and marketing experts, attorneys, financial planners, fundraisers, ADHD professionals and anyone else interested in working on a specific task or becoming an active member of one of our committees.
Liberate Your Inner Wallflower
Some people are naturally outgoing. They strike up conversations easily, making friends wherever they go. Others are shy and have a hard time meeting new people. Adults with ADHD often feel intimidated in social situations (possibly from numerous experiences shoving first one foot and then the other into our mouths!) Volunteering at ADDA gives you the opportunity to practice and develop your social skills with a group of people who’ll accept you just as you are. Build that momentum and it’ll carry over into the rest of your life, making it easier to connect with more friends and contacts.
Volunteering with ADDA will boost your self-confidence, self-esteem and overall satisfaction. We want you to work with your strengths and experience success. When you are helping others and making things better for your community, you enjoy a natural sense of accomplishment. And the better you feel about yourself, the better you feel about your life, your future goals and your ability to realize your dreams.
Do What You Love
Volunteering for ADDA is a fun and easy way to explore your interests and passions. Volunteering can be a relaxing, energizing escape from your daily routine of work, school, or family commitments. Volunteering also renews your creativity, motivation and vision, which will carry over into your personal and professional life.
You will have a richer and more enjoyable volunteering experience if you work with your strengths and pursue your passions. (Of course, if you don’t know what your strengths and passions are, volunteering is a great way to discover them!) What you would enjoy doing, or what would you like to try?
Opportunities for Growth
When you volunteer with ADDA, you can start small if you prefer, but there’s plenty of room for growth too. Serving on a committee allows you to explore new areas and test your skills safely, but serving on committees also prepares you for greater responsibility, such as leading a project, chairing a committee or joining the ADDA Board of Directors.
Most importantly, make sure you’re having fun! The best volunteer experiences benefit both the volunteer and the organization.

ADDA is seeking a leader in developing new and recurring sources of funding including grants, sponsorships, donations and more.
