ADDA signs letter to Congress to protect Medicaid stability protections.

On February 8, ADDA signed on to a letter with other national organizations urging Members of Congress to oppose efforts to weaken stability protections in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Through the Affordable Care Act, an important provision ensures stable Medicaid and CHIP coverage by requiring states to hold steady on Medicaid and CHIP eligibility for adults until 2014 and for children until 2019. However, some of the nation's Governors are seeking to eliminate this important stability protection in the face of budget challenges. The letter also reminds Members of Congress that Medicaid and CHIP have been a key source of health coverage stability for millions of the nation's low-income children and families, seniors, and people with disabilities, and that over 50 million people rely on Medicaid and CHIP for access to critical health care services such as mental health treatment that they could not otherwise afford.

The letter was sent from national organizations such as ADDA on behalf of Families USA, which is a national nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the achievement of high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.
